OssaTron Shock Wave Treatment
for Chronic Heel Pain

Hartsdale Podiatry was one of the first D.P.M. in Westchester Country to offer the newest method of noninvasive treatment of chronic heal pain, as a result of the approval of the OssaTron shock wave device by the Food and Drug Administration.

Nearly one-in-four Americans suffer from bone or joint problems, including chronic heel pain. The OssaTron device promotes healing without surgery from chronic heel pain syndrome and possibly other disorders involving soft tissue and bone.

The OssaTron device provides a form of treatment that can replace surgery for chronic heel pain and allows physicians a new method of treatment that has no significant side effects and seems to promote tissue healing on its own.

The OssaTron, distributed by HealthTronics of Marietta, GA, uses extracorporeal shock waves similar to the lithotripsy process used so successfully in the past decade to treat kidney stones. The shock waves stimulate a healing response in inflamed or injured soft tissue and bone.

OssaTron treatment usually lasts about 20 minutes following anesthesia. Healing of inflamed tissue took as little as six weeks and some patients report immediate pain relief after treatment.
